Saturday reading clubs
Small groups of eight children with two trained volunteers, every Saturday morning.
R150 buys five books
Reading together in Khayelitsha since 2012
We run free reading clubs, a community library and book boxes for families, so children in Khayelitsha grow up with stories in isiXhosa and English.

Community reading non-profit
Many homes in our community have no books at all. Siyakhula changes that one child at a time. Trained volunteers read with children every afternoon and on Saturdays, families take home a box of books to keep, and our small library in Site C is open to anyone with a library card, which is free for life.
About us →

Twelve weekly clubs where volunteers read aloud, play word games and listen to children read.
Boxes of ten new and gently used books, packed by volunteers and delivered to families.
A food garden beside the library that feeds our clubs and teaches children where food comes from.

Siyakhula means we are growing. One story, one child, one street at a time.
