Two cousins and a churner

Siesta Gelato

Siesta Gelato began in 2018 when cousins Riya Pillay and Nikhil Govender brought a second-hand Italian gelato machine to Durban and began churning in Riya's mother's kitchen.

We opened our shop on Chartwell Drive a year later and have been serving the same queue of regulars ever since.

Real ingredients

Fruit, cream and eggs, nothing from a bag.

Small batches

Never more than a day's worth.

A sweet neighbour

A free scoop every Friday for local school teachers.
